      What is Psycho Oncology?

      Psycho-oncology is a sub specialty in oncology that focuses on the psychological, emotional, social, and behavioral aspects of cancer care. The department helps cancer patients to overcome fear, anxiety, depression that occurs at various stages of cancer treatment including diagnosis, active treatment and follow up. It focuses on good mental health, social and family relationships during cancer treatment and survivorship.  

      Psycho oncology team consists of clinical psycho-oncologist and social workers who work with the help of departments of psychiatry, and clinical psychology. Working in collaboration with the oncologist the team aims to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care, addressing the mental health needs of cancer patients, and their families.

      • To provide psychological support to cancer patients and their families

      • Handling stress reactions, panic attacks and insomnia by medications and therapy
